If I had a dollar for every time someone told me:

“I’m awkward in photos…”

I’d probably have enough for a lifetime supply of Dairy Queen Blizzards.

Truthfully though… almost every single person who steps in front of my camera says some version of:

“I don’t know how to pose.”
“My boyfriend hates photos.”
“My kids never sit still.”
“I’m not photogenic.”

And every single time, I tell them the same thing:

You do not need to be “photogenic” to have beautiful photos.

The Best Photos Usually Aren’t Perfect

Some of my favorite photos have absolutely nothing to do with perfect posing.

Sometimes it’s the blurry movement shot.

Sometimes it’s your toddler running wild.

Sometimes it’s the in-between moment where everyone is laughing because something completely unplanned happened.

Those are usually the photos people end up loving the most

Not because they’re “perfect”…

But because they FEEL real.

When you look back at your gallery years from now, I don’t want you to just remember what everything looked like.

I want you to remember what it felt like.

My Job Is To Guide YoU

One of the biggest misconceptions people have before booking a session is thinking they need to show up already knowing how to pose.

That’s my job bestie!

I guide my clients through the entire session in a way that feels natural, comfortable, and honestly… FUN.

I’ll help with:

✨ Posing

✨ Movement prompts

✨ What to do with your hands

✨ Keeping kids engaged

✨ Natural interactions

✨ Creating genuine moments instead of stiff ones

You are never expected to “perform” for my camera.

The goal is not perfection.

The goal is connection.

And honestly? Sometimes getting those genuine smiles from kids means doing the absolute MOST behind the camera...

I have fully embarrassed myself making weird noises, dancing around, acting completely ridiculous, and asking things like:

“Wait… who farted?! 👀”

or:

“PHEW… did dada fart?! What is THAT smell?!”

just to get those real little giggles... and honestly? It works almost every time!

Because the best photos are rarely the perfectly posed ones.

They’re the ones filled with personality, laughter, chaos, movement, and real emotion.

The moments where your kids are simply being themselves.

Those are the memories worth freezing forever.

The Magic Happens When You Stop Overthinking

Some of the best sessions I’ve ever photographed started with people telling me how nervous they were:

The couples who swore they were awkward.

The moms who almost canceled because they didn’t feel confident.

The dads who said they “hate photos.”

The families worried their kids wouldn’t cooperate.

And by the end of the session?

They’re laughing. Relaxed. Having fun. Usually saying:

“Wait… that was actually so much easier than I thought.”

Because once you stop worrying about being perfect, that’s when the real moments start happening

Life Happens So Fast

I think becoming a mom changed the way I view photography in so many ways.

Life moves so incredibly fast.

One minute you’re rocking your baby to sleep at 2am, exhausted and wondering if this stage will ever pass… and then suddenly they’re bigger, more independent, and that season of life is already gone...

The tiny hands.

The messy curls.

The way your child reaches for you without thinking.

The chaos.

The laughter.

The moments that feel so ordinary right now.

One day they become the memories you miss the most.

And I think that’s why photography matters so deeply to me.

Not because life is always perfectly posed or perfectly styled…

But because we deserve to freeze time in whatever little ways we can ✨

The truth is, there will never be a “perfect” time.

Life will always be busy.

Kids will be wild.

Schedules will feel overwhelming.

You may never fully feel ready.

But this season of your life deserves to be remembered too

That’s also why patience is such a huge part of my sessions.

I never want clients to feel rushed, stressed, or like their children need to behave perfectly every second.

Some of the most beautiful moments happen naturally when everyone simply slows down, breathes, laughs, and lives in the moment together.

Because at the end of the day…

These photos become little time capsules of the people we love most.

You’re Already Worthy Of Being In The Photos

This is the part I wish more people believed.

You do not need to lose weight first.

You do not need the “perfect” outfit.

You do not need perfectly behaved kids.

You do not need to know how to pose.

You are already worthy of being in the photos exactly as you are right now.

Because years from now, nobody is going to care if your hair was perfectly in place or if your child sat still for every single photo.

What’s going to matter is that the memories were captured.

The love.

The chaos.

The connection.

The season of life you’re currently in.

And trust me… those are the moments worth remembering.
