Some things are impossible to miss on a wedding day.
For Maddy and Cody, it was the way he looked at her.
Throughout the entire day, every glance, every smile, and every quiet moment seemed to say the same thing:
"That's my person."
On June 6, 2026, Maddy and Cody celebrated their marriage at Castle Cantina in Leicester, Massachusetts, surrounded by fewer than 40 of their closest family members and friends. The intimate setting made every moment feel meaningful and personal, allowing the focus to remain exactly where it belonged on the love they share and the people who matter most to them.
What makes this wedding even more special is that it almost wasn't on my calendar.
At 7:33 PM on Friday, June 5th, I received a message from the mother of the groom asking if I happened to be available to photograph their wedding the very next day. Less than 24 hours later, I had the incredible honor of capturing one of the most important days of Maddy and Cody's lives.
Some weddings are planned years in advance. Some come together at the last minute. But every once in a while, a wedding reminds you exactly why you love what you do.
This was one of those weddings.
Their Story
Maddy and Cody's story began in August of 2020 when they met through mutual friends. What started as a simple introduction quickly grew into a relationship built on friendship, laughter, support, and unconditional love.
When asked what he loves most about Maddy, Cody couldn't help but make everyone laugh.
He loves her attitude, her sense of humor, and the way she keeps him grounded. In true Cody fashion, he joked that she puts him in his place when needed and admitted he'd probably be a loser without her.
After spending the day with them, it was easy to see exactly what he meant.
When asked what she loves most about Cody, Maddy shared how much she loves his personality, his humor, and the way he can always make her laugh. Whether life is serious or completely chaotic, he's the person who can instantly bring a smile to her face.
Together, they balance one another perfectly each bringing out the best in the other while never losing the friendship that started it all.
A Beach Proposal
After years of building a life together, Cody proposed to Maddy on a beach in West Yarmouth. The ocean, the salty air, and the moment they decided forever...it was the perfect beginning to the next chapter of their story. That proposal would eventually lead them to a beautiful June afternoon surrounded by family, friends, laughter, and so much love.
The Sweetest Words
One of my favorite parts of any wedding day is hearing what family members have to say about the couple.
Maddy's mom shared some of the sweetest words about Cody. She spoke about how he makes Maddy a better person, how much happiness he brings into her life, and how grateful she is to see her daughter so deeply loved.
Those words weren't just heard during the celebration... they were visible throughout the entire day.
The way Maddy and Cody looked at one another, laughed together, and supported each other made it clear to everyone in the room that these two were exactly where they were meant to be.
A Blessing to the Family
Cody's mom shared equally heartfelt words about Maddy.
She described her as an amazing person who brings joy and laughter wherever she goes. More than anything, she spoke about the happiness Maddy has brought into Cody's life and how beautiful it has been to watch her son smile the way he does when he's with her.
Watching their first dance, she said they simply radiated love.
She shared that Maddy has been a true blessing to their family, bringing warmth, kindness, and a loving spirit into their lives.
But perhaps the most meaningful thing she shared wasn't just about Maddy...it was about the two of them together.
She explained that she and Cody's father have always told their children to be friends first.
Because friendship is the foundation.
It's the base that everything else is built upon.
And in Maddy and Cody, she sees exactly that.
Not only a husband and wife, but best friends.
The kind of friendship that carries a couple through every season of life and creates a love that lasts.
As she put it best:
"They are best friends, and that's what makes it last."
After spending the day with Maddy and Cody, it was impossible not to agree!
An Intimate Celebration Filled with Heart
With fewer than 40 guests in attendance, the wedding felt incredibly intentional.
Every person there had played an important role in Maddy and Cody's lives, and you could feel how much it meant to have those closest to them gathered together to celebrate.
There was something so special about the intimacy of the day. No distractions. No pressure. Just the people who know them best, sharing in one of the most important moments of their lives.
Every hug felt a little tighter. Every happy tear carried a little more meaning. Every laugh echoed through the room a little louder.
The Way He Looks at Her
As a photographer, I notice a lot of things.
The details.
The emotions.
The moments that happen between the moments.
But throughout the entire day, one thing stood out more than anything else:
The way Cody looks at Maddy.
Not just during the ceremony.
Not just during portraits.
The entire day.
Every time she walked into a room, every time she laughed, every time she glanced his way...you could see it written all over his face.
Pure admiration.
The kind of love that doesn't need grand gestures or perfect words.
The kind that shows up in the quiet moments.
The kind that says, "I still can't believe I get to marry you."
And if you looked closely, you could see that same love reflected right back at him.
A Dance Floor to Remember
For such an intimate wedding, this group knew how to celebrate. The dance floor was packed from the moment the music started. The laughter was nonstop, the energy was contagious, and every guest showed up ready to celebrate Maddy and Cody exactly the way they deserved. At one point, when "Low" came on, family members.... including the moms...were out on the dance floor getting low right alongside everyone else. It was one of those moments that had everyone laughing and cheering while creating memories they'll be talking about for years. The love was undeniable. But so was the fun.
A Day I'll Never Forget
One of the things I love most about being a wedding photographer is that no two wedding days are ever the same.
Sometimes weddings are booked months... or even years... in advance.
Sometimes a mother sends a message at 7:33 PM the night before her son's wedding, hoping someone is available to capture one of the most important days of his life.
That mother was Cody's mom.
Less than 24 hours after reaching out, she entrusted me with documenting the memories her family would cherish forever.
From the very beginning, it was clear how much love surrounded Maddy and Cody, not only from each other, but from the families who were celebrating alongside them.
Being trusted to step into such an important role on such short notice was an honor I will never forget.
Their wedding may have been intimate, but the love that filled Castle Cantina that day was anything but small.
Maddy and Cody, thank you for trusting me with your memories.
And to Carrie.... Cody's mom... thank you for reaching out, trusting a photographer you'd never worked with before, and allowing me to preserve these moments for your family.
Thank you for welcoming me into your day.
And thank you for reminding everyone lucky enough to witness your wedding what it looks like when two people truly find their person.
Congratulations
Mr. & Mrs. Siwek
Here's to a lifetime of friendship, laughter, and love...the foundation of a beautiful marriage. 🤍 ✨
